Company

Bloomberg, founded in 1980, is a large, international financial data source. They have an extensive list of clients which include, but are not limited to, banks, investment firms, news agencies, lawyers, and students. Their website boasts the following:

Bloomberg is the leading global provider of data, news and analytics. The BLOOMBERG TERMINAL and Bloomberg’s media services provide real-time and archived financial and market data, pricing, trading, news and communications
tools in a single, integrated package to corporations, news organizations, financial and legal professionals and individuals around the world.

The company itself is divided into a number of departments, of which the Research & Development (R&D) Department is among the largest. The R&D Department comprises almost any software and hardware development done for the company and its products.

It is particularly noteworthy that the company’s founder is Michael Bloomberg, the Mayor of New York City. This suggests that the company bears an excellent reputation and could have some strong connections within the city.

Culture

The office environment speaks a great deal of the company, and Bloomberg seems to have a very unique culture. Again, I appeal to an excerpt from their website:
